North Borneo took part in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia with a delegation of two male athletes in a competition in one sport.

It was the first and only participation in North Borneo in the Summer Olympic Games .

The youngest athlete was the triple jumper Sium bin Diau (21 years and 46 days), the oldest athlete was the triple jumper Gabuh bin Piging (24 years and 322 days). The standard bearer was Gabuh bin Piging.
