The Republic of China took part in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia with a delegation of 20 male athletes in 13 competitions in five sports.
The youngest athlete was the weightlifter Bu-Beng Ko (19 years and 125 days), the oldest athlete was the boxer Shih-Chuan Lee (24 years and 350 days). It was the country's first participation in the Summer Olympics .
