Mexico took part in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia, with a delegation of 24 athletes, 21 men and three women, in 20 competitions in ten sports.
It was Mexico's eighth participation in the Summer Olympic Games since 1900 .
The youngest athlete, aged 15 years and 150 days, was the swimmer Juan Botella , the oldest athlete was the sailor Raúl Ibarra (48 years and 239 days).
