action
Jason receives a package with ecstasy from his friend , but the drug investigation ( DEA ) provided it with a tracking device and used it as bait.
John Matthews is a concerned father and owner of a construction and transportation company. He receives a call from his ex-wife, Sylvie Collins, at a barbecue party, informing him that his son Jason has been arrested for drug possession and trafficking. Under the 1989 Act, which regulates the minimum penalty for drug possession, Jason faces a minimum of 10 years in prison. The length of detention can only be reduced if Jason helps the prosecutor arrest other drug dealers or criminals. However, since Jason does not want to commit treason, John has no choice but to come up with something.
Through his influential contacts in the construction industry, he made an appointment with the public prosecutor Joanne Keeghan. He offers to help arrest other dealers himself, provided that his son's prison sentence is reduced in return. Because of the upcoming elections and the prosecutor's campaign against drugs, she accepts the deal.
John tries to get in touch with the drug scene. To do this, he goes through the personnel files of the employees of his construction and transport company and finds Daniel James, who has already been convicted of drug trafficking twice. John takes Daniel out for coffee and asks for help. In return for his help, he promises him $ 20,000. After a period of thought, Daniel decides to help John and introduces him to his former gang buddy and senior dealer Malik. Malik, who like Daniel has already been to prison twice, is initially skeptical about the conversation. In the course of the conversation, John offers to transport the drugs for Malik, as smuggling with his fleet of trucks can reduce the risk to less than 1 percent and at the same time increase the amount transported.
After the smuggling was successful, but with some complications, Malik changes the meeting point, but John and Daniel are still secretly watched by the DEA agents who are preparing for access. Upon delivery, John has to sniff a sample of the smuggled cocaine, making it difficult for DEA agents under the command of DEA Agent Cooper to access.
Cooper decides not to intervene by the DEA, as it becomes clear in the course of the handover that John will get in touch with "El Topo" and the DEA can possibly arrest him. Angry that the deal won't be kept, John takes out his anger on Keeghan. She promises that she can offer an opportunity when he goes to the next meeting. Meanwhile, Jason has problems in prison, which also draws Daniel's attention. He threatens to kill John, but fails because his wife has found out he's back in the drug business and she doesn't want to support him a second time.
John drives home immediately, where he meets Analisa, Malik and their members. He can persuade Analisa to pick up his daughter and to drive them to Analisa's sister immediately. Malik and John are now going to see "El Topo" alias Juan Carlos Pintera, who arranged the first drug deal. Pintera makes it clear to John that he belongs to his "family" and that he has another shipment for John.
After the meeting, John drives back to Keeghan and Cooper, where they learn that John is supposed to be transporting money for the cartel that is under Pintera's command. John agrees on the condition that Jason be released from prison immediately after the transport, even if he perishes. Keeghan also accepts this deal, as she sees an opportunity for her campaign and at the same time wants to lock Pintera. Cooper worries that John may be killed.
John now goes to Daniel and asks for his assistance, since Malik has Pintera's cell phone number. Daniel can kill everyone on Malik's farm and wound Malik. Before Malik dies, he reveals Pintera's cell phone number to Daniel. John has taken some precautions when the cartel learns from an informant that John has a deal with the DEA. There is a shootout on the highway, but John can take out three of the four chasing cars, but he is shot. Before that, he could give Cooper the information about the current transport process and forward Daniel Pintera's number to Cooper. Pintera is arrested but avoids a shootout with the DEA because his young son is with them. Meanwhile, the cartel members shot up the tires of John's truck, causing John to have a traffic accident, but the DEA can rescue him.
After this action, John and his whole family join the witness protection program. Daniel is released. Since John has to give up his business, the DEA gives him the bounty that was on Pintera. Jason is released the next day and returns to his family.
