Mexico took part in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow with a delegation of 45 athletes (36 men and 9 women) in 43 competitions in twelve sports.

The Mexican athletes won one silver medal and three bronze medals. The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the diver Carlos Girón , who also won the silver medal in jumping on the three-meter board. The Mexican show jumping and eventing riders won all bronze medals.
