The Mongolia participated in the Summer Olympics in 1980 in Moscow with a delegation of 43 athletes (39 men and 4 women) in 41 competitions in eight sports part.

The Mongolian athletes won two silver and two bronze medals. The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the freestyle wrestler Dzewegiin Düwtschin .
