The Netherlands took part in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow with a delegation of 75 athletes (57 men and 18 women) in 56 competitions in ten sports. The marathon runner Gerard Nijboer won the silver medal, the judoka Henk Numan won bronze and the women's swimmer relay over 100 meters freestyle. The nation ran under the Olympic flag .
