Tanzania took part in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow with a delegation of 41 athletes (36 men and 5 women) in 22 competitions in three sports. The athletes Suleiman Nyambui over 5000 meters and Filbert Bayi over 3000 meters obstacle each won the two only medals in Tanzania with silver at the games.
