Hette Borrias

Henriette "Hette" Louise Borrias (born April 8, 1953 in Eindhoven ) is a former Dutch rower , who was European champion in 1973 in the four without helmswoman and in 1979 world championship third in single.

Athletic career

The 1.75 m tall Hette Borrias rowed for the rowing association ORCA in Utrecht. At the European Championships in Moscow in 1973 , the Dutch four-man with helmsman in the line-up Liesbeth de Graaff , Myriam Steenman , Hette Borrias, Liesbeth de Bruin and helmsman Yvonne Vischschraper won in front of the boats from the GDR and Poland. Two years later, the Dutch foursome reached fifth place at the 1975 World Championships , the four rowers remained, Vera Schneyderberg acted as helmswoman . In 1976 the Dutch four-man rowed at the Olympic Games in Montreal with Ans Gravesteijn , Myriam Stenman, Hette Borrias, Liesbeth de Bruin and helmsman Monique Pronk . The Dutch took second place behind the Bulgarians in the run-up and won the repechage. In the final they reached fifth place.

At the 1979 World Championships in Bled , the Romanian Sanda Toma won in the singles ahead of Martina Schröter from the GDR. One second behind Schröter, Hette Borrias won the bronze medal, 0.17 seconds ahead of Canadian Andrea Schreiner and 0.23 seconds ahead of Joan Lind from the United States. Even with the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow Blanchette Borrias stepped to the One. After she had finished last in the pre-run and the hope run, she did not take part in the C-final.
