Greet Hellemans

Greta "Greet" Mettina Hellemans (born May 25, 1959 in Groningen ) is a former Dutch rower .

Career

The 1.80 m tall Greet Hellemans rowed at the 1977 World Championships in the Dutch quadruple scull , which took seventh place. After a fifth place in 1978 and a seventh place in 1979 , the Dutch quadruple finished sixth at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow .

At the 1983 World Championships , Greet Hellemans finished fifth in a double scull together with her sister Nicolette Hellemans . The following year, three of the four boats that had lain in front of the Hellemans sisters in 1983 were missing from the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles because of the Olympic boycott of the Eastern Bloc countries. In Los Angeles, Mărioara Popescu and Elisabeta Lipă , who were third in the World Cup last year, won; behind the two Romanians, the Dutch women won silver ahead of the Canadians. The Hellemans sisters also competed with the Dutch eight and won the bronze medal in this boat class behind the US boat and the Romanians.

Three years after Los Angeles, Greet Hellemans joined the 1987 World Championships in two-man without a helmsman and finished ninth.
