Lau Veldt

Laurens "Lau" Veldt (born June 18, 1953 in Amsterdam ) is a former Dutch track cyclist .

Lau Veldt was a specialist for short-term disciplines on the track. He had his greatest successes in the tandem race , in which he was seven times Dutch champion between 1974 and 1980, with various partners. In 1974 he also became national champion in the sprint , 1977 and 1978 in the 1000-meter time trial . In 1978 he and Sjaak Pieters took third place on the tandem at the World Railroad Championships in Munich . In 1980 he started at the Olympic Games in Moscow in the sprint, but was eliminated in the second round.

Lau Veldt is the father of racing cyclist Tim Veldt , who, like his father, competes in sprint disciplines on the track.
