The Mongolia participated in the 1972 Winter Olympics in the Japanese Sapporo with a delegation of four men in part, two each in cross country skiing and speed skating. The speed skater Luwsanscharawyn Tsend was chosen as the flag bearer of the Mongolian team for the opening ceremony.
