At the XXII. At the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow , 14 gymnastics competitions took place, eight for men and six for women. The venue for the gymnastics competitions was the Lenin Sports Palace . Alexander Ditjatin, the most successful athlete of the games, won a medal in all eight men's gymnastics competitions. The competitions were dominated by the athletes of the USSR, who secured the title in 9 out of 14 competitions.
