Dănuț "Dan" Grecu (born September 26, 1950 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian artistic gymnast .

He began gymnastics in Iași at the age of eight and was from 1962 at various Bucharest clubs. From 1970 Grecu belonged to the national team and he was 1972-77 and 1979 Romanian all-around champion.

In 1972 Grecu took part in the Olympic Games in Munich and reached seventh place with the Romanian team. At the 1973 European Gymnastics Championships , he was able to win his first international medal on his special device, the rings , when he came third in Grenoble. Grecu achieved his greatest success at the 1974 World Gymnastics Championships . In Varna he was equal on points with the Soviet gymnast Nikolai Andrianow world champion on the rings.

1975 Grecu was in the title fights in Bern before his compatriot Mihai Borş European champion on the rings. He was also sixth in the all-around competition and on the horizontal bar. At his second Olympic Games he won the bronze medal on his special device. There was also a fourth place in the jump and a sixth place with the Romanian gymnastics team. The following year Grecu was fifth on the horizontal bar at the European Gymnastics Championships in 1977 .

At the Gymnastics World Championships in 1978 Grecu could not defend his title on the rings, but won the bronze medal. In the 1979 world championship he was runner- up behind the Soviet gymnast Alexander Ditjatin . In 1980 he took part in his third Olympic Games . In Moscow was fourth with the team, sixth on the rings and ninth in the all-around event.

After his gymnastics career, Grecu became national coach. He was also an international referee and became Vice President of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation.

Dan Grecu was awarded the Order of Loyalty to the Knight in 2000.
