Steffi Kraker

Steffi Kräker , after marrying Steffi Biskupek-Kräker , (born April 21, 1960 in Leipzig ) is a former German gymnast . She won Olympic medals in 1976 and 1980.

Steffi Kräker was accepted into the gymnastics team of the GDR at the age of 13. In 1976 she won the bronze medal with the team at the Olympic Games in Montreal . In 1977 she won the GDR championship in all-around competitions, in horse jumping, on the balance beam and on the uneven bars. At the European Championships in Prague in 1977 she won bronze on the uneven bars. In 1978 she became East German horse jumping champion. At the World Championships in Strasbourg she won bronze in the horse jump and with the team. 1979 at the World Championships in Fort Worth , she won bronze on the balance beam and with the team.

In 1980 the Olympic Games took place in Moscow . The GDR team won bronze behind the ranks from the Soviet Union and Romania . In the all-around competition, Kräker came in tenth place. On the uneven bars she received bronze with two other gymnasts and in the horse jump she won silver behind Natalja Schaposhnikova . In 1981 the world championship was held in the Olympic city of 1980, Steffi Kräker won again bronze with the team and in the horse jump.

Dr. Steffi Biskupek-Kräker works as a psychological psychotherapist in her own practice in Leipzig. She was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2011.

In 1980 she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in the GDR .
