Katharina Rensch (born October 7, 1964 in Berlin , after marrying Katharina Schirmer ) is a former German gymnast . Your hometown club was TSC Berlin .

At the European Gymnastics Championships in Copenhagen in 1979 , Rensch finished ninth in the all-around competition and fourth on the floor. Shortly afterwards she won the bronze medal at the World Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth in 1979 with the team of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) together with Maxi Gnauck , Steffi Kräker , Regina Grabolle , Silvia Hindorff and Karola Sube . At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, the GDR squad featured almost the same line-up, with only Birgit Süß replacing the injured Regina Grabolle. The team won bronze again, in the individual ranking Renschalz finished ninth, the second best gymnast in the GDR. As sixth in the horse jumping qualification, she could also have taken part in the apparatus finals, but only two starters per team were allowed and both Maxi Gnauck and Steffi Kräker were ahead of Rensch. Katharina Rensch, who became East German champion on the ground and in horse jumping in 1980, mostly struggled with injuries over the next few years. In 1983 she entered the GDR championship again, but could not qualify for the world championship wars.

After finishing her career in 1984, she worked as a junior high school teacher. She later moved to her husband's real estate office as an assistant. She also trains young people at the Berlin TSC.
