Dumitrița Turner
Dumitrita Turner (* 12. February 1964 in Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej ) is a former Romanian gymnast .
Because of an injury, she only had a short sports career. In 1979 Turner took part in the World Championships for the first time . In Fort Worth, she won the first Romanian world champion title in history in team all-around with Nadia Comăneci , Rodica Dunca , Emilia Eberle , Melita Rühn and Marilena Vlădărău . She was also the first Romanian woman to become world champion in jumping.
At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow Turner was able to win the silver medal with the Romanian team. In 1981 she was fourth with the team at the World Championships . At the Universiade, which took place in Bucharest at home that same year, she won gold with the Romanian team.
After her active career, she stayed with gymnastics and became a trainer, first in Oneşti, 1994 in Guatemala and later in Australia.
