Early life and education
His parents ran a coffee house in Hanover. They made it possible for their first-born son to attend the Lyceum. Already at this time Adolf Scheele was busy collecting plants. In 1826 he enrolled as a theology student in Göttingen, which was what his parents wanted. In the first few semesters, however, he mainly dealt with botany. To finance excursions to the Rhine, Thuringia or the Harz Mountains, he wrote botanical articles for various magazines.

botanist
As a botanist he was in contact with German and foreign colleagues. Scheele collected in the Harz Mountains for his herbarium. In 1851 he extended his journey through Saxony, Bavaria, Tyrol to Lambardei and Venice. In 1844 an action to exchange plants in the magazine Flora suggested.
Many plant collectors were able to complete their herbaria by announcing Disederata and duplicates in their collection through exchange or trade.
Scheele's herbarium of phanerogams (seed plants) eventually grew to 10 to 12 thousand species. not only from Germany, but from Norway, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Africa and North America. After his death it was sold. He had bequeathed a cryptogam herbar to a friend in his will. His botanical author abbreviation is " Scheele ".
