Alexander Wassiljewitsch Tkatschow ( Russian Александр Васильевич Ткачёв ; born November 4, 1957 in Semiluki ) is a former Soviet gymnast . He was a two-time Olympic champion in 1980 .

He took part in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow for the Soviet Union . With the Soviet team he was able to win the team all-around competition. In the individual competitions he won gold on bars and a silver medal on rings. In the individual all-around he was fourth and on the pommel horse he came in fifth.

Tkachev won a total of nine medals at gymnastics world championships . He was twice world champion in team all-around and once on parallel bars.

In 1977 Tkachev performed a new element on the horizontal bar, which was later named "Tkachev Straddle". It became one of the most popular and impressive items that is often performed in international competitions.

Tkachev was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2011.
