Michael Reusch (born February 3, 1914 in Rothrist , Canton Aargau , † April 6, 1989 in Rothrist) was a Swiss gymnast and Olympic champion .
The father came from Neuhausen an der Erms (today part of the city of Metzingen ), and had married a woman from Rothrist in Switzerland in 1912.
At the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin , Michael Reusch took part in all eight gymnastics competitions. He won the silver medal on parallel bars behind the German Konrad Frey and got another one in the all-around with the Swiss team.
Twelve years later, at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London , he finally won the gold medal on bars at the age of 34. There were further silver medals on the rings behind Swiss team-mate Karl Frei and again in the team all-around competition.
Reusch was the most successful participant in the World Gymnastics Championships in Prague in 1938 and was three times world champion on horizontal bar, parallel bars and pommel horse. He also won the silver medal on the rings and in the team competition.
