Li Xiaopeng , 李小鹏, Lǐ Xiǎopéng, (born July 27, 1981 in Changsha , Hunan ) is a Chinese gymnast .

Life

Li initially trained at a sports school in Hunan from the age of 6 and became a member of the Hunan provincial gymnastics team from the age of 12. At the age of 15 he was sent to the national team of the Chinese.

His paragon is the parallel bars , but he also achieved great success on the jump. Between 1997 and 2008 he won numerous national and international competitions in gymnastics. In 2000 he won gold at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney with the team and in singles on parallel bars. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens , Li achieved bronze on bars and at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, he won the gold medal in singles on bars and gold in the team of Chinese gymnasts.

To date, Li has been world gymnastics champion eight times , more than any other gymnast in China. This includes two titles on parallel bars, three on vaults and three with the team. Xiaopeng also won a world championship bronze medal and a world cup on the ground .
