Karl Frei (born March 8, 1917 in Regensdorf near Zurich ; † June 18, 2011 in Schlieren near Zurich) was a Swiss gymnast and Olympic champion .

Career

At the 1948 Summer Olympics in London , he took part in all eight gymnastics competitions. He won the individual competition in ring gymnastics in front of his Swiss teammate Michael Reusch . In the team all-around competition, he and the Swiss team lost to the gymnasts from Finland and won silver.

After his active sports career, he worked as a trainer and as a school caretaker .
