Takuji Hayata ( Japanese 早田卓次 , Hayata Takuji ; born October 10, 1940 in Wakayama Prefecture ) is a former Japanese gymnast . He was a two-time Olympic champion .

Hayata won a gold medal on the rings and in the team all-around at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo . In the individual all- around event he finished 8th. At the World Gymnastics Championships in 1970 in Ljubljana , he became world champion in the team all-around event and was third on the horizontal bar.

In 2004, Hayata was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame .
