Luzhniki Sports Palace
The Sports Palace Luschniki ( Russian Дворец спорта Лужники , Dworez sporta Luzhniki ), formerly also called Lenin Sports Palace ( Russian Дворец спорта имени В. И. Ленина ) is a sports hall in the Russian capital Moscow .

The hall is located in the Luzhniki Olympic site (Russian: Олимпийский комплекс "Лужники", Olimpijski kompleks "Luzhniki" ), which was built for the 1980 Summer Olympics .
The Sports Palace can be reached by metro via the Sportivnaya ( Russian : Спортивная) stop .
History and use
The hall was built with a capacity of 13,700 spectators, but today only 11,500 people can watch sports and cultural events there after the area of the Luzhniki Olympic Stadium was renovated.
In the past, world and European championships in ice hockey , gymnastics , volleyball , basketball , etc. were held here.
In the 2000s, the sports palace was mainly used for major sporting events, such as the Rosno Cup in ice hockey . The HK Dynamo Moscow ice hockey team played most of their home games between 2000 and 2015 in the smaller hall ("Малая лужники спортивная арена"), which is also part of the Olympic complex and has a capacity of 8,700 at sporting events and 6,700 for concerts. In 2015 the HK Dynamo moved into the newly built VTB Ice Palace with up to 14,000 seats.
Before the 2016/17 season, KHL participant HK Spartak Moscow moved to the Malaja Arena of the Sports Palace before leaving the venue for the following season.
