Summit Series 1974

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Summit Series 1974 was the second competition after the Summit Series 1972 , in which the national teams of Canada and the Soviet Union met .

The NHL players were still excluded from the Olympic Games due to their lack of amateur status . The Soviet players were, by definition, amateurs as almost all of them belonged to the Red Army . However, they had no military tasks to perform.

This time the Canadian team was represented by players from the World Hockey Association and no NHL players were used. As a result, the Soviet team won the tournament with four wins, three draws and one loss.

The competition ran as before at the Summit Series 1972 over eight games, four in Canada and four in the Soviet Union. In the final accounts, the USSR won the series.
