Stoyan Delchev

Stojan Deltschew ( Bulgarian Стоян Делчев ; born July 3, 1959 in Plovdiv ) is a former Bulgarian gymnast and Olympic champion.

Life

Delchev took part in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal . In 1977 he became European champion on horizontal bar , in 1979 in all-around and on the ground . He achieved silver in the horizontal bar and bronze in the jump . At the world championships in apparatus gymnastics , he won a bronze medal each on the horizontal bar and pommel horse in 1978 . In 1980 he became Olympic champion on the horizontal bar at the Summer Olympics in Moscow . In the individual all-around he won the bronze medal.

He was awarded the Order of Georgi Dimitrov as a hero of socialist work .
