Andreas Wecker (born January 2, 1970 in Staßfurt ) is a former German gymnast . His special device was the horizontal bar .

At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 , Wecker won the silver medal in the team all-around competition with the GDR squad, for which he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona he won bronze on the pommel horse and the rings , and even silver on the horizontal bar. His greatest sporting success was the gold medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta on the horizontal bar.

For his sporting success he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on June 23, 1993.

Wecker, who was known for his outbursts of temperament, became world champion in 1995 on horizontal bar, European champion in 1989 and 1992 and European youth champion in 1988. Between 1989 and 1995 he received a total of 14 other medals on various devices and with the team.

At the German championships of the DTB and the DTV , he won more than 40 titles in the all-around and on the various devices. In 1989 Wecker was the last GDR athlete of the year . Until 1999 he was coached by Lutz Landgraf , under whom he celebrated his greatest successes, but with whom he also repeatedly got into disputes.

After the end of his active career in 2000, Wecker founded a company that organizes gymnastics events. Due to a war of divorce, maintenance disputes for his first daughter, overindebtedness, dealing with dubious esoteric people and thoughts of suicide, Wecker repeatedly hit the headlines in the following years.

In 2006, Wecker contracted Crohn's disease , from which he claims to have fully recovered since 2013. Since 2008, he has been running a company in Bend , Oregon, that produces plant germ oils. In order to raise money for his company, he sold his medals, among other things.

Wecker is a Christian, married in his second marriage and has a daughter each from his first and second marriage.
