German Gymnastics Federation of the GDR

The German Gymnastics Association (DTV) was the gymnastics association of the GDR and thus one of the sports associations in the German Gymnastics and Sports Federation .

It was founded on May 3, 1958 in Leipzig . In the course of the German reunification took place on 8/9. September joining the German Gymnastics Federation (DTB) at the German Gymnastics Day in Hanover . The presidents of the DTV were Erich Riedeberger from 1958 to 1969 and Günter Borrmann from 1970 to 1990 .

The DTV was u. a. responsible for the popular and top gymnasts of the GDR and the national gymnastics team. He was the organizer of national and international gymnastics championships and the gymnastics and sports festivals of the GDR .

Representatives of many successful gymnasts in the GDR are: Maxi Gnauck , Dagmar Kersten , Karin Janz , Erika Zuchold , Klaus Köste , Sylvio Kroll , Sven Tippelt and Andreas Wecker .

Association magazine was " Gymnastik und Turnen " until 1990 .
