Ralf-Peter Hemmann (born  December 8, 1958 in Dresden ) is a former German gymnast . His home club was the SC DHfK Leipzig .

He won a silver medal in the team all-round competition with the team of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow . In the individual competition in horse jumping , he was fourth in these games. A year later he won the gymnastics world championships on the same device , which also took place in Moscow in 1981. With the GDR team he won the bronze medal in the all- around at the 1978 World Championships in Strasbourg .

At GDR championships, he won a total of five national individual titles. It was 1978, 1979 and 1980, East German champion on parallel bars in 1978 on stretching and 1981 rings gymnastics . In 1980 he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

According to statements by Soviet officials, Hemmann gave a positive doping test at the 1981 World Cup in Moscow . The case was not published and Hemmann was not informed either. It was not until six months later, despite the reigning world champion, that GDR sport officials told him that his career was over.
