Christian Friedrich Segelbach

Christian Friedrich Segelbach (born April 28, 1763 in Erfurt , † August 7, 1842 in Saint Petersburg ) was a German philosopher , theologian and naturalist . He was at the same time Imperial Russian Councilor and Professor. In 1837 he was accepted into the Erfurt Academy of Non-Profit Sciences .

He studied theology and philosophy at the University of Erfurt and the University of Jena and received his doctorate in both subjects. In 1794 he became a teacher of mathematics and poetics at the Erfurt high school. In 1796 he was a teacher of religious philosophy and church history at the Petri School in Saint Petersburg . From 1810 to 1823 he held a position as a full professor of church history and theological literature at the Imperial University in Dorpat before he settled entirely in St. Petersburg.
