Theodor Beise

Theodor Heinrich Beise (born January 6, jul. / 18th January  1818 greg. In Riga , Governorate of Livonia , † July 15 . Jul / 27. July  1878 . Greg in Tartu , Governorate of Livonia) was a German-Balt , lawyer and Author . From 1851 to 1869 Beise worked as a syndic of the Imperial University of Dorpat .

Life

Theodor Beise studied law at the University of Dorpat from 1835 to 1838 . In 1838 and 1839 he worked as a civil servant in the Chancellery of the Generalgouvernement and from 1839 to 1851 he was an attorney at court and council. From 1851 to 1869 he was the syndic of the university in Dorpat with the rank of councilor of state. 1853 doctorate he attended the University of Jena to the Dr. phil. From 1859 to 1860 he was editor of the magazine " Das Inland ".

From 1860 to 1861, Beise was president of the Estonian learned society . He was secretary of the Society for the History and Antiquity of the Baltic Provinces of Russia .
