Melitta Rühn (today Melitta Fleischer ) (born April 19, 1965 in Sibiu , Sibiu district ) is a former Romanian gymnast from the German-speaking minority of the Transylvanian Saxons .

Athletic career

Melitta Rühn was a member of the then very successful national gymnastics team of Romania's women. In 1979 she won the gold medal with her team at the World Championships in Fort Worth , and she won bronze in all-around and floor exercise . In 1980 she was in the XXII. At the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow he was involved in the silver medal in the team all-round competition and won two bronze medals in the horse jump and on the uneven bars . In the qualification of the individual all-around competition, she received a grade of 10 in the horse jump.

Life

In 1982 Melitta withdrew from her active sports career. After successfully completing her studies at the Sports University in Bucharest , she met her boyfriend and current husband Roland Fleischer, who emigrated to Germany with his family in 1988 . After the fall of the communist government, Melitta emigrated to Germany in 1990. After their wedding, she and her husband moved to Traunreut , where their first daughter Stephanie was born that same year. In 1991 they changed their place of residence and moved to Traunstein , where their second daughter Franziska was born a year later. In Waging am See , Melitta Fleischer trained the German champion Natalie Pitzka in 1992 . In 1993 she moved to Munich because Roland got a job as a caretaker and Melitta as a kiosk seller at a private school.
