Karl Fischer (born June 29, 1904 in Speyer , † April 20, 1976 in Regensburg ) was a German politician of the BVP and the CSU . From 1950 to 1954 and again from 1958 to 1962 he was a member of the Bavarian state parliament .

Life and work

Fischer attended both the old and the new grammar school in Regensburg. After graduating from high school, he studied law and political science at the universities of Munich and Erlangen . In 1929 he started as a trainee lawyer, in 1933 he completed the major state examination for higher judicial and administrative service in Bavaria. He made his doctorate with a thesis on labor law. He then initially worked as a lawyer, temporarily working in Karlsbad . In 1940 he switched to the judiciary, and in 1944 he was promoted to district judge. However, his activity was hampered when he went into World War II as a soldier in 1942 . He was taken prisoner of war, from which he was released in August 1945. Since June 1, 1948 he was employed at the district court of Regensburg . Most recently he was a senior judge and senior public prosecutor at the Munich Higher Regional Court .

politics

Fischer was initially politically active in the Bavarian People's Party until he was taken into protective custody in 1933. After the war he joined the CSU, in 1952 he was elected chairman of the CSU district association in Regensburg. In addition, he was honorary chairman of the Regensburger Junge Union and honorary member of the Association of Returnees . From 1948 on he was a member of the Regensbuger city council.

In the state elections in 1950 , Fischer won the direct mandate in the Regensburg-Stadt constituency and thus entered the state parliament. There he was chairman of the "Bavaria Palatinate " committee as well as the committee of inquiry to examine the processes in the state compensation office. In the 1954 election he lost the direct mandate to Rudolf Schlichtinger ( SPD ) and thus left the state parliament. In the 1958 election , however, he was able to recapture the direct mandate and return to the state parliament, where, among other things, he was a member of the advisory board for reparations at the state compensation office. After the 1962 election, Fischer finally resigned from the state parliament.

Honors

In 1975 he was awarded the Silver Citizen Medal of the City of Regensburg .
