Carl Otto Forssell (born October 25, 1917 in Stockholm , † November 28, 2005 in Ängelholm ) was a Swedish sword fencer .

Carl Forssell was vice world champion with the team in Piešťany in 1938 , in Lisbon in 1947 , in Cairo in 1949 and in Luxembourg in 1954 . In 1950 in Monte Carlo and 1951 in Stockholm he also won the bronze medal with her. In 1950 he was also vice world champion in singles. He took part in the Olympic Games three times : in 1948 he was eliminated from the individual competition in London in the quarter-finals. In the team competition, however, he reached the final round with the Swedish team, which he finished with Per Carleson , Bengt Ljungquist , Frank Cervell , Sven Thofelt and Arne Tollbom behind France and Italy on the bronze medal . At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 , he moved with the team again in the final round, which was completed in second place behind Italy. Together with Per Carleson, Berndt-Otto Rehbinder , Bengt Ljungquist, Lennart Magnusson and Sven Fahlman , Forssell received the silver medal. He finished eighth in the individual. In 1956 he was eliminated in Melbourne both individually and with the team in the preliminary round. Forssell was Swedish champion three times with the sword and seven times with the foil.
