Singapore participated in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia, with a delegation of 49 athletes, 47 men and two women, in 13 competitions in six sports.

The youngest athlete was the sprinter Kesavan Soon (18 years and 18 days), the oldest athlete was the sailor Ned Holiday (56 years and 62 days). It was the country's third participation in the Summer Olympics . The standard bearer was the water polo player Lionel Chee .
