Arumugam Vijiaratnam

Arumugam Vijiaratnam (born August 24, 1921 - February 18, 2016 ) was an athlete and engineer from Singapore . Due to the participation in international matches in the four different sports hockey , football , rugby and cricket , he received an entry in the Singapore edition of the Guinness Book of Records .

Career

Vijiaratnam attended the Victoria School . In 1947 and 1948 he took part in the Malaya Cup as a football player with the Selangor FA . He then focused primarily on hockey, with the Singapore national team he took part in the Summer Olympics. There he took eighth place with the selection.

In the early 1950s Vijiaratnam studied engineering in the United Kingdom at Brighton College of Advanced Technology , and in 1953 he returned to his home country. There he worked for the Ministry of Labor and the Port of Singapore Authority . He also took on official duties at the Nanyang Technological University and as President of the Singapore engineering association.
