Uganda took part in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia with three athletes.

It was Uganda's first participation in the Summer Olympics .

  100 meters: quarter-finals

  200 meters: preliminary round

• Patrick Etolu

  High jump: 12th place, 1.96 m

• Lawrence Ogwang

  Long jump: 27th place in qualification

  Triple jump: qualified for the final with 14.95 m in the preliminary fight (14th place); reached 20th place in the final with a width of 14.72 m
