The Philippines took part in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia with a delegation of 39 athletes, 35 men and four women, in 30 competitions in seven sports.
The youngest athlete was the swimmer Bana Sailani (19 years and 42 days), the oldest athlete was the marksman Hernando Castelo (50 years and 105 days). It was the country's seventh participation in the Summer Olympics .
