Olga Szabó-Orbán (* 9. October 1938 in Cluj as Olga Orban ) is a former Romanian foil fencer .

successes

Olga Szabó-Orbán won bronze at the individual world championships in 1970 in Ankara , silver in Paris in 1965 and gold in Buenos Aires in 1962 . With the team she won the title in Havana in 1969 and two further silver and bronze medals. She took part in five Olympic Games . At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 , she reached the individual finals, in which she finished first with six wins together with Gillian Sheen . In the jump-off she was defeated by Sheen and thus received the silver medal. In 1960 in Rome and 1964 in Tokyo , she placed in the individual and team competitions in the top ten, as well as in the individual in 1968 in Mexico City . In the team competition, she moved into the semi-finals together with Ana Derșidan , Ileana Gyulai , Ecaterina Iencic and Maria Vicol , in which the Romanian team lost to Hungary . In the battle for bronze she then prevailed against France . Also at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich , she completed the team competition on the bronze rank.
