Nailja Faisrachmanowna Giljasowa ( Russian: Наиля Файзрахмановна Гилязова ; born January 2, 1953 in Kazan , Russian SFSR ) is a former Soviet foil fencer .

successes

Nailja Giljasowa achieved most of her successes at international level in team competition, but also won titles in individual. In 1982 she became the individual world champion in Rome , previously she had only won bronze in Grenoble in 1974 . With the team she became world champion six times: 1974 in Grenoble, 1975 in Budapest , 1977 in Buenos Aires , 1978 in Hamburg , 1979 in Melbourne and 1981 in Clermont-Ferrand . She took part in the Olympic Games twice with the Soviet delegation : in 1976 in Montreal , together with Olga Knjasewa , Walentina Nikonova , Jelena Novikowa and Walentina Sidorova, she reached the unbeaten final, in which France was also defeated 9: 2, and thus became Olympic champion . At the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 , Gilyasova finished ninth in the individual, while she again entered the battle for the gold medal with the Soviet team. This time France lost 6: 9, so Gilyasova received the silver medal.
