Valentina Gennadijewna Nikonowa ( Russian Валентина Геннадьевна Никонова ; born March 5, 1952 in Kazan , Russian SFSR ) is a former Soviet foil fencer .

successes

Valentina Nikonowa was individual world champion in Gothenburg in 1973 and also won the silver medal with the team. 1974 then followed in Grenoble the title win in the team competition. At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal , she reached the unbeaten final with Olga Knjasewa , Nailja Giljasowa , Jelena Novikowa and Walentina Sidorowa , in which France was also defeated 9-2, and thus became Olympic champion .
