Valentina Alexandrovna Prudskowa ( Russian Валентина Александровна Прудскова27. December 1938 in Yershov , Saratov Oblast ; † 23. August 2020 ) was a Soviet Foil - fencer . She won gold and silver medals at the Olympics .

successes

She was a member of the Soviet national team from 1957 to 1968. At the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome , she won the gold medal in the foil team competition with the Soviet team . At the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo , she won the silver medal in the foil team competition with the Soviet team .

With the Soviet team, Prudskowa was four times world champion ( 1958 , 1961 , 1965 and 1966 ) and twice silver medalist ( 1959 and 1962 ). In 1965 she also won the bronze medal in the foil individual.

Prudskowa was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Master of Sport" in the Soviet Union in 1960 and the Soviet Union Medal in 1971. She played for the Burewestnik Saratov club.
