Francesca Bortolozzi (* 4. May 1968 in Padua ) is a former Italian foil - fencer . She took part in the Olympic Games three times and was able to win two gold and one silver medal. She started for the club Gruppo Sportivo Mestre .

Career

Francesca Bortolozzi won the gold medal in the individual foil foil at the Junior Fencing World Championships in 1987 . In 1988 she took part in the Summer Olympics in Seoul . There she was used in the foil team competition and won silver with the team. Four years later, at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona , Bortolozzi started in the individual and team foil competition . In the individual, she only reached 19th place. In the team, she replaced the injured Giovanna Trillini in the final against Germany, but lost her appearances. Due to the good performance of her teammates, she was still able to win the gold medal with the team. Francesca Bortolozzi won the title at the 1993 World Fencing Championships in Essen . She married the Italian fencer Andrea Borella and started under the double name Bortolozzi-Borella at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta . She replaced an injured teammate with Diana Bianchedi, but this time she was more successful. In the semi-finals she fought well against the Hungarians and also in the final against Romania she fought well. In the end there was her second Olympic gold medal.

In addition to the individual World Championship title in Essen, she was able to win two gold, one silver and three bronze medals with the team at world championships.
