Josef Věntus

Josef Věntus (born February 17, 1931 in Kylešovice , Moravskoslezský kraj ; † December 2001 ) was a Czechoslovak rower who won two Olympic medals.

Athletic career

At the European Rowing Championships in 1956 , the Czechoslovak eighth won ahead of the boats from France and Hungary. A few months later at the Olympic Games in Melbourne, the Czechoslovaks were eliminated in the semi-finals behind Canada and Sweden, the Swedes were the only European eighth to reach the final and came fourth. At the European Rowing Championships in 1957 , the Italian eighth won ahead of the Soviet boat, the Czechoslovaks received the bronze medal.

The German eight won at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome , behind the Canadians won the Czechoslovak eighth in the occupation Bohumil Janoušek , January Švéda , Jiří Lundák , Václav Pavkovic , January Jindra , Luděk Pojezný , Josef Věntus, Stanislav Lusk and helmsman Miroslav Koníček the Bronze medal. The Czechoslovak eighth also won the bronze medal at the European Rowing Championships in 1963 behind the boats from Germany and the Soviet Union. At the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, the Czechoslovak eighth with Petr Čermák , Jiří Lundák, Jan Mrvík , Július Toček , Josef Věntus, Luděk Pojezný, Bohumil Janoušek, Richard Nový and helmsman Miroslav Koníček won the bronze medal behind the Germany eighth Eighth .
