Norbert Hammerschmidt

Norbert Hammerschmidt (born May 15, 1944 in Dortmund ) is a German hit writer .

Norbert Hammerschmidt comes from a working-class family who did not want to study, which is why he did not attend secondary school. At the age of 17 he left the Ruhr area with the aim of becoming a racing mechanic and then a racing driver for Ferrari in Maranello , Italy . But he got stuck in various European cities such as Brussels , Nice , Cannes , Paris and Amsterdam and came back to Germany at the age of 20.

Now he began training as an industrial clerk and started a family. After attending a private academy for adult education, he completed a business diploma. He worked as a sales manager in a company for audio-visual communication technology.

In his spare time he started writing lyrics. In 1977 he received a contract with the Meisel publishers in Berlin and was now able to make copywriting his profession. The first interpreters to sing his lyrics were Frank Zander , Sylvia Vrethammar and Nighttrain .

His first great success was the German text on Santa Maria for Roland Kaiser , for which gold and platinum were awarded. In total, there were around 100 titles for Roland Kaiser, including all of his big hits.

The interpreters of his texts include Udo Jürgens , Andrea Jürgens , Vicky Leandros , Nana Mouskouri , Wencke Myhre , Roberto Blanco , GG Anderson , Karel Gott , Bernhard Brink , Leonard , Lena Valaitis , Ireen Sheer , Andy Borg , Monika Martin , Freddy Quinn , Die Flippers , Tony Marshall , Florian Haidt and the Nockalm Quintet .

He has been working with Jack White since 1986 and wrote about 250 and almost all of his German-language texts for him. In total, more than 1,000 titles have been written by him so far. With texts for Andrea Berg , Hansi Hinterseer , Roland Kaiser and the Kastelruther Spatzen , he achieved gold and platinum several times.

With texts to five titles he came to the German preliminaries for Euro Vision Song Contest ( 1980 , 1982 , 1983 , 1986 , 2002 ) with men understand you just what they woll'n occupied Gaby Baginsky in the German Schlager Festival 1998 with a Hammerschmidt -Text first place.

In 2011 Norbert Hammerschmidt was awarded the Willy Dehmel Prize for lyricists by GEMA .

In 1986/87, in addition to the hit business, he was the main author of the ZDF television entertainment series with a hidden camera "Hard to believe" with Pit Weyrich .
