Johann Ernst "Hansi" Hinterseer (born February 2, 1954 in Kitzbühel ) is an Austrian pop singer , actor , presenter and former ski racer . Hinterseer specialized in the giant slalom and slalom disciplines. He won six World Cup races, a World Cup medal and the giant slalom World Cup ranking of the 1972/73 season. He was twice the downhill world champion of the "Pro Tour". Since 1994 he has been successful as a singer in the field of folk music and has released over three dozen records.
Career
athlete
Hansi Hinterseer started skiing at a very early age, also because in winter he often had to make the way to school from the Seidlalm, where he grew up, down to Kitzbühel on skis. His father Ernst , slalom Olympic champion in 1960, promoted his son's sporting career from the start and looked after him at the Kitzbühel Ski Club. Hansi's younger brothers Ernst jun. and Guido also became ski racers.
Hinterseer became Austrian student champion in slalom, giant slalom and in combination in 1968. A year later he was accepted into the national team of the ÖSV . In the 1971/72 season , the specialist in the technical disciplines took part in World Cup races for the first time and scored his first points in the slalom in Berchtesgaden on January 9 , 1972 with ninth place, but was not considered in the Olympic team nominated for Sapporo because of his youthfulness .
His victory in the giant slalom on the Tonalepass ( Trient region ) in mid-April was a bit strange , in which David Zwilling was initially declared the winner, but before the organizer added a second round, in which the Kitzbüheler still caught up and emerged as the overall winner before compatriot Zwilling.
In the next winter, the 1972/73 season , he achieved his breakthrough to the top of the world. On March 8, 1973, the 19-year-old celebrated his first victory in the giant slalom in Anchorage and, with four second places, won the giant slalom ranking. In the overall World Cup he finished fourth, tied with German Christian Neureuther . In that year he was also Austrian champion in giant slalom.
At the beginning of the 1973/74 season , Hinterseer won his second giant slalom in Val-d'Isère on December 8th, and on January 27th he was at the top of the winners' podium for the first time in his hometown of Kitzbühel, which is not only the first time an Austrian is here (Since 1959 Anderl Molterer) won the slalom, but there has also been a men's victory in slalom for the ÖSV in the World Cup for almost five years. He was not yet in the first starting group, but had to race with No. 21. At the highlight of the season, the 1974 World Championship in St. Moritz , Switzerland , he won the silver medal in giant slalom behind the superior Italian Gustav Thöni , and in slalom he was disqualified in third place. In the overall World Cup he reached third place with two wins and six additional podium places, he came second in giant slalom and fifth in slalom.
In the 1974/75 season , Hinterseer made it into the top three four times and celebrated his only win of the season in the Naeba slalom on February 21 . He finished sixth in the overall World Cup and was fifth in the giant slalom and slalom rankings. In the 1975/76 season he initially won the giant slalom on November 29, 1975 at the World Series of Skiing , which was not part of the World Cup, and came second in the slalom on the next day. He celebrated another victory in the Schladming World Cup slalom on December 21, but suffered a bitter disappointment at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck . In the giant slalom, he was only 14th, almost seven seconds behind. After a training injury, he dropped out or gave up in the first round of the slalom. In the overall World Cup, the Tyrolean came fifth with one victory and two further podium places, in the slalom he reached third place, tied with Gustav Thöni. In 1976 he was Austrian champion in slalom.
The 1976/77 season did not start with the hoped-for results, it was only on February 25 that he won the giant slalom in Furano, Japan . This was his last World Cup success. In the overall ranking he fell back to 14th place after this season, and in the discipline rankings he only achieved seventh place in giant slalom and tenth place in slalom. In the 1977/78 season , his results collapsed completely. Hinterseer only made it into the top ten twice; he couldn't qualify for the World Championship in Garmisch-Partenkirchen within the Austrian team. - To what extent a short-term World Championship start for Australia or Iran was to be taken seriously, although this would not have been possible due to the FIS statutes (change of nation can only take place after one season until July 1st), remains an open question also commented accordingly by the media.
Hinterseer ended his World Cup career on August 29, 1978 at the age of only 24 and started with the professional skiers in the US Pro-Ski Tour . There he had great success right from the start, notably also in the downhill. In 1980 and 1981 he took second place overall behind his compatriot Andre Arnold and was professional downhill world champion in 1982 and 1983. He then ended his active sporting career and from 1984 was co-commentator on the ORF 's live ski broadcasts , mostly in the slalom and giant slalom disciplines.
Entertainer and singer
In 1993 he was discovered as a singer by the music producer Jack White at his birthday party and shortly afterwards he was signed by the record label Bertelsmann Group (now Sony Music Entertainment ). In 1994 Hansi Hinterseer began a successful career as a singer in the field of folk music . After the production of the first long player, Hinterseer appeared for the first time in 1994 with his debut single "You haven't kissed me today" in Karl Moik's folk music program " Musikantenstadl ". Shortly thereafter, this song was included on the sampler "The golden year of folk music".
Already his first album "Wenn man loves each other" reached number 29 in the Austrian charts. After further appearances in public entertainment programs, he completed his second album. "Träum mit mir" exceeded the expectations of its predecessor and was able to position itself in Germany and Switzerland. At the end of 2005 he reached the top position in the Austrian longplay charts for the first time. In the meantime, Hinterseer has been awarded gold or platinum records by the Austrian, Swiss and German IFPI a total of 30 times . In 1998 he won a Golden Romy for his performance as a showmaster in the folk music genre . He is also known as an actor in light entertainment related television productions. In 2001, 2003 and 2006 he was nominated for an Amadeus Austrian Music Award . In 1998, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 he was awarded a folk music crown .
With his two CDs The Danish Collection he managed to reach the top of the album hit parade in Denmark in April 2010, ousting Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas from the top. He also made it to number one in the Danish charts with his subsequent album Ich hab dich liebe dich .
The Hansi Hinterseer brand has been registered in the German trademark register since June 28, 2006 . On February 3, 2013, the ARD announced the end of the collaboration with Hinterseer after 18 years, despite good ratings. According to BILD , the ORF wanted to continue the program, but the ARD had put itself across. ARD will not broadcast a TV film with the title "Ruf der Pferde" (Call of the Horses) and Hinterseer as the main actor, which was shot in autumn 2012. In January 2014 it became known that a wax figure by Hansi Hinterseer would be exhibited in the wax museum of Madame Tussauds in Vienna. The singer presented the completed work on January 22nd, 2014 in Kitzbühel. Since April 2014, Hansi Hinterseer has been posing on various yogurts from Tirol Milch based on the French model La vache qui rit .
On March 21, 2017, the ORF announced that it would broadcast Hinterseer's music and nature program again with new episodes after a four-year break. The Hessian Broadcasting and the Central German Broadcasting are co-producers. The first issue was broadcast on November 11, 2017 under the title Hansi Hinterseer - In the picturesque Tannheimer Tal . The program Hansi Hinterseer - Summer Dream on the South Styrian Wine Route followed on May 4, 2019 . In the spring of 2018, the singer publicly stated that he cannot read sheet music: "I was never good at reading", he confessed in an interview with the Munich newspaper " tz ".
In Denmark, a parody of Hintersee by the comedian Peter Frödin is very popular. Frödin calls himself Franzi25 . In the meantime, several songs by Frödin, in which he strings together German words, have taken on a viral character on the Internet in Denmark.
Private
On October 31, 1975, Hinterseer married Anneliese Gröderer from Kirchberg in Tirol in Kitzbühel . This relationship lasted until 1979. On May 23, 1986, he married Romana; the daughters Laura and Jessica emerged from the marriage.
Hinterseer's nephew Lukas Hinterseer is a professional footballer. He has been a member of the Austrian national soccer team since 2013 .
