biography
Guido Hinterseer came through his successful father Ernst as well as his two older brothers Hansi and Ernst jun. to ski early on. The graduate of Skigymnasiums Stams celebrated its first international success at the Junior World Championships and Europe from 1980 to 1982. In Madonna di Campiglio , he was in 1980 after his brother Ernst second in the giant slalom, a year later he celebrated in the Yugoslav ski resort Stari vrh at Škofja Loka Victories in giant slalom and in combination. At the Junior World Championship in 1982 in Auron , France , he was able to finish all competitions on the podium and thus won the combination. In the same year he was also Austrian junior champion in slalom and giant slalom.
In the World Cup Hinterseer debuted on 26 January 1981 in the giant slalom at Chuenisbärgli in Adelboden . He achieved his first points a year later on March 24, 1982 with eleventh place in the giant slalom in San Sicario , and in the following winter he came under the top 15 twice. In the 1983/84 season , Hinterseer caught up with the extended world elite and placed a total of nine times among the top ten. The best result was fourth place in the combination of Kitzbühel , which also remained his best ever World Cup result, as well as two fifth places in the Super-G in Madonna di Campiglio and in the giant slalom in Kirchberg . Despite these good results, he was not used at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo .
At the beginning of the 1984/85 season he reached fifth place again in the Super-G of Madonna di Campiglio, but then fell back due to injury and also missed the World Cup in Bormio . At the end of the season he won the Austrian championships in giant slalom and in combination. Due to another injury, Hinterseer did not achieve good results in the entire 1985/86 season and only achieved points in the last race. The 1986/87 season began with little success, which is why he could not take part in the World Cup in Crans-Montana . It wasn't until March that he achieved his first top ten places in over two years with sixth places in the Super-Gs of Aspen and Calgary .
The 1987/88 season was bad again, only in the last giant slalom he finished in the points. Therefore, despite winning the Austrian Super-G Championship in 1988, the 24-year-old was dismissed from the squad by the Austrian Ski Association after the season. Hinterseer then ended his active career.
His son Lukas (* 1991) is an Austrian national soccer player , his son Nicolas (* 1995) is also a soccer player.
