The Czechoslovakia took part in the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City with a delegation of 121 athletes (94 men and 27 women) in 66 competitions in 14 sports part.
The Czechoslovak athletes won seven gold, two silver and four bronze medals, which placed Czechoslovakia in seventh place in the medal table. The Olympic champion was the shooter Jan Kůrka in a prone position with a small-bore rifle, the athlete Miloslava Rezková in the high jump, the water diver Milena Duchková in the high jump and the gymnast Věra Čáslavská in the individual all-around , on the ground, on the horse jump and on the uneven bars. Čáslavská also secured silver on the balance beam and also took second place in the team all-around match with the Czechoslovak team. This also made her the most successful athlete in the entire Games. Bronze went to the men's volleyball team, the wrestlers Miroslav Zeman in the flyweight and Petr Kment in the heavyweight of the Greco-Roman style and the athlete Ludvík Daněk in the discus throw. The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the volleyball player Bohumil Golian .
