Miloš Jelínek

Miloš Jelínek (born March 10, 1947 in Brno ) is a former Czechoslovak cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Jelínek was a track cyclist and competed in all disciplines except for the standing races . He won his first medals in national championships in the team pursuit . In 1965 he started at the UCI track world championships in the team pursuit and won bronze (including with Jiří Daler in a foursome). A year later, the Czech selection was again third in the world championships. In 1968 he was a participant in the Summer Olympics in Mexico . He competed in the tandem race and was fifth with his partner Ivan Kučírek in the victory of Daniel Morelon and Pierre Trentin . He was classified 15th in the 1000 meter time trial . With Kučírek he won the silver medal in the tandem race at the UCI track world championships in 1976 . Nationally he won the title in the team pursuit in 1967 in the jersey of the club Dukla Pardubice . In the sprint, his long-time tandem partner Ivan Kučírek prevented him from winning the title four times: in 1965, 1967, 1974 and 1976 he was runner-up in each case. Together they won seven titles on the tandem from 1966 to 1975. In 1967 he also won the time trial title. Twice, in 1965 and 1970, he won the six-day race for amateurs in Brno.

Professional

After his active career, Jelinek worked as a coach in cycling. In 1987 he trained China's rail selection .
