Božena Srncová

Božena Srncová (born June 11, 1925 in Prague ; † November 30, 1997 ibid) was a Czechoslovak gymnast .

Career

At the Olympic Games in London in 1948 , Srncová won the gold medal together with Zdeňka Honsová , Marie Kovářová , Miloslava Misáková , Milena Müllerová , Věra Růžičková , Olga Šilhánová and Zdeňka Veřmířovská in the United States' all-round competition from the Hungarians. Eliška Misáková was also awarded the medal posthumously . Individual competitions were not held in 1948.

Four years later, Božena Srncová was the only Olympic champion from 1948 in the Czechoslovak squad at the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki . The squad with Hana Bobková , Alena Chadimová , Jana Rabasová , Alena Reichová , Matylda Šínová , Božena Srncová, Věra Vančurová and Eva Vechtová won bronze behind the team from the Soviet Union and the Hungarians. In the individual all-around event, Božena Srncová took 22nd place. Her best placement on the equipment was 20th place on the uneven bars . In the gymnastics team ranking, the team from Czechoslovakia took sixth place.
